Why I Chose to be a Massage Therapist

Massage has always helped me de-stress.

I like to have fun. You might ask why that’s the first thing I would say, but if you dig deep you’ll understand. It’s fun to meet new people. It’s fun to solve problems. It is fun to be the name people are talking about when another asks for a solution. Massage has always helped me de-stress. About six years ago became an inspirational way to make new acquaintances. It was when I found out I was talented in a field I had never considered, so I wished to explore this new talent to its extent. In other words, in this field I’ll never run out of the phrase, ‘what’s next?’ I want to help people and satisfy my own curiosity in one package.

I haven’t been disappointed in my decision.

In two years, I haven’t been disappointed in my decision. There are difficulties, sure, but I haven’t regretted it once. I’ve recently been in contact with a slew of my old classmates from Gwinnett College, and the majority of them have decided on a different avenue of life. I’m relatively sure that I’ll never know their true reasons for their change of heart, but what I do know is what they’ve told me. One grew bored. Another said that it was too hard and yet another just ‘forgot’ to renew their license and didn’t feel like going through the hassle to reapply.  It’s not all hardship, though. I just finished working an event with a classmate who was there for the same reason as I. We were organized by a third classmate who couldn’t be there herself, but had the connections and skills to bring people who were available. Personally, I’ve loved seeing who flourishes where in this business.
